Euro-Texas folk music at its best! Kay Hickman and Pete Nalda busk the streets of Austin, Texas playing original and traditional European folk tunes.
Street Squeeze, a unique and extraordinary part of the Austin music scene, has over fifty years of combined musical experience. They've influenced countless other fine folks, spurring them to take up the accordion, and with their sparkle, they have been the catalyst for many others to take their own music to the streets.
Street Squeeze is well known for presenting exciting and interesting workshops at the National Accordion Convention, using their laid back, quirky style to teach people the ins and outs of street music, how to get started playing diatonic accordion, and how to compose music for diatonic accordions. Kay Hickman and Pete Nalda know how to make music sizzle!
Besides playing on the street, Kay and Pete have performed at many festivals, including the Viking Festival, the annual festival at the French Legation in Austin, the Pecan Street Festival, the Victorian Christmas Festival, and the Pumpkin Festival. They play private parties and assorted events such as museum openings. They have also been featured musicians on the RootsWorld Free Reed Festival, and featured musicians at the Accordion Roundup at the Broken Spoke in Austin, Texas.
